Designed by architect David Stocker, this award-winning chapel sits high on a vista overlooking hundreds of acres of private land in Central Texas. Built to serve as a private family chapel for prayer, weddings, memorials, and baptisms, we designed these windows to connect the outside views in with a sunset in the west and the prairie view in the east. The more modern aesthetic is simple and elegant and helps to augment the architecture of the chapel rather than compete with it.
We were more than thrilled when Sky Ranch Family Camp called and asked us to design some new windows for Redeemer Chapel being built at the camp. Boasting a beautiful view out the front of the chapel, our task was to design eleven windows to be placed along the sides of the chapel, each portraying a different story of redemption found in the Bible. We wrote a short devotional to accompany each window as the chapel is used daily for worship, prayer, quiet times, and special services.
West Dallas Community School is a classical, Christian school serving a lower income neighborhood. The school had an auditorium space they wanted to turn into a chapel space, giving it a more liturgical and worshipful atmosphere. We converted the 14 floor-to-ceiling clear windows that looked out over a football field to stained glass windows that reflect the different names of God. Each window has a different name of God, a supporting scripture reference, and icon to represent that name. The children in the school all have their favorites and we are thrilled we could present their God to them in this way.
Park Cities Presbyterian Church (PCPC) in Dallas, Texas was constructed and built as Highland Park Baptist Church and houses many stained glass windows that also exist in other churches all over the country. PCPC hired us to construct these three windows - one to go in the foyer lobby and the other two to be placed in the smaller chapel. We helped develop the theology and concept of each window, as well as the color palette and design. The chapel windows were designed together with another window designer.
A private underwriter approached us to create some unique windows for this very special place called St. Philips School and Community Center in South Dallas. These windows were created using the Dalle de Verre technique which utilizes chunks of thick glass rather than the traditional style of leaded and painted glass. The windows were designed to communicate the miracles of Jesus in the old and new testament with the windows in the front of the chapel reminding them that their God has come that they might have life and have it abundantly.
Mercy Ships is a non-profit organization that sails floating hospitals to third world countries to offer free medical care and free medical training. For the first time in its history, Mercy Ships has built its first ship from scratch, the African Mercy, and will serve in Africa in 2019. Along with the 180 hospital beds, 9 operating rooms, a K-12 school, a staff of 600, 3 restaurants and more, there will be a chapel for visitors and staff to use as they wish. These two windows are currently in production and illustrate the theme verses for the Mercy Ships organization and the heart of why they serve. Utilizing a multi-ethnic and modern illustration style, these windows will fit beautifully in the scandonavian style of the ship designed in the Netherlands.
